Student Life (SL) Coordinator, Office of Student Financial Affairs and Scholarships (OSFAS), Grant Position

Reports to: Director, Budgeting and Scholarships

Purpose: The SL coordinator performs a critical role in furthering the mission and objectives of a group of scholarships funded by donors and/or AUC such as OC scholarship program, Empower program, Sawiris foundation program, Atef and Fofa scholarship and Molly Bartlett scholarship. The SL coordinator develops and monitors students’ academic and leadership skills, provides training and mentoring in civic engagement through planning targeted field trips, experiential learning and networking opportunities with non-governmental organizations (NGO) and reports/documents students’ progress. This position works with the director of Scholarships to ensure implementation of program’s goals and objectives.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Manage the assigned scholarship programs activities, conferences, study abroad and retreats that meet student affairs and scholarship agreement terms and procedures
  • Manage the day-to-day implementation of the program in line with the requirements of the sponsors and their agreements with the university
  • Follow up with the enrollment office regarding the programs’ outreach and the announcement of the scholarships
  • Direct students through university policies and procedures as well as the scholarship terms and conditions
  • Support students in adjusting to the university’s environment through individual mentoring, coaching, and advising
  • Manage the development, implementation and evaluation of student programs and promotes the personal development of a diverse students
  • Guide scholars through AUC’s orientation activities and develop tailored orientation activities
  • Conduct training, coaching, advising, and mentoring on and off campus
  • Strategically develop semester and annual work plans that meet the scholarships program goals and objectives
  • Curriculum development integrating the components of academic excellence, community service and leadership development
  • Utilize different evaluation tools to assess, evaluate and interpret student needs and trends to develop a range of student services and activities
  • Develop networks with university departments, faculty, senior government officials, and local and international NGOs and multinational corporations
  • Schedule and conduct professional development seminars, career fairs, student dinners and other events that may arise
  • Report and share the best practices, challenges, and issues and to provide updates on the program and students and highlight students at risk
  • Conduct regular check-in meetings with students for monitoring purposes, follow up on their academic progress and compliance to the scholarship requirements and the student agreement
  • Monitor and evaluate student academic and leadership performance using GPA and LPI (a tool developed to measure the leadership and community service development of students using certain rubrics)
  • Develop quarterly and annual technical progress reports as requested
  • Coordinate with the OSFAS finance person regarding the student’s registration records and disbursement process and other related academic and non-academic expenses
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

Minimum Education Requirement:

  •  Bachelor degree in humanities or social sciences (preferably in psychology or developmental field)
  • Preferably, master degree in youth development, counselling, human rights or gender issued from US or UK institutions

Experience:

  • A minimum of eight to ten years of previous experience

Skills :

  • Expertise in youth leadership development and scholarship management with five to eight years of experience in multinational organizations and NGOs and/or USAID funded programs
  • Excellent management skills and communication skills, verbal and written
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Strong advising, coaching and mentoring skills
  • Strong networking skills
  • Strong computer skills
