Reports to: Associate Director, Student Organizations and Services

Purpose: The job holder will provide critical daily support to the mission of the Office of Student Life through collaborating with the associate director in the planning, organizing and coordinating the work of student services unit including managing the international and local student health plan, military letters for Egyptian male students, emergency handling, non-AUC housing, and liaison with different departments.

Principal Accountabilities:

International and Local Health Insurance Program Administration

  • Assist in administration of the mandatory health insurance policy for international and Egyptian students including brochure revision and distribution, and student information system data collection for distribution of cards

Office of Student Life Activities/Programs

  • Support the Office of Student Life activities, events and programming by reserving halls and determining Classroom Technology and Media Service’s needs (CTMS), and escorts students in trips organized by Office of Student Life when assigned. Assists in students’ sign up lists for trips and activities. Evaluation tabulation of Office of Student Life activities and trips

Reception

  • Offer superior customer service skills, meet and greet students and all other visitors to the office as first point of contact and direct them to appropriate office/personnel
  • Cordially respond to phone inquiries and take messages as appropriate. Maintain the reception area ensuring neatness, safety and a professional environment
  • Drafting meeting minutes, memos, letters, receive and send faxes, respond to telephone calls and distribute office mail
  • Assist in preparation for meetings and office activities by handling reservation of halls and rooms. Keep a thorough filing system both in hard and soft copies

International Day

  • Supports in planning for and implementing this campus-wide event

Military Letters for Male Egyptian Students and Sessions

  • Manage the draft of the memos and letters sent to the Office of the President

Off-Campus Housing Assistance

  • Develop materials to help students searching for safe, affordable housing off-campus including maps and regular updates for off-campus housing options

Focus Groups

  • Hold focus groups to assess Office of Student Life services

Emergency and Crisis Management

  • Participate in ‘on call’ rotation for after hours and weekend emergencies
  • Perform other related duties requested by direct supervisor

Requirements:

Minimum Education Requirement :

  • University degree is required

Experience :

  • Up to 3 years of previous experience including 2 years in a university setting, preferably providing services to students
  • Experience working with diverse nationalities and cultures

Skills :

  • Excellent English communication skills
  • Analytical skills: data gathering, analysis and organization, problem solving and task management
  • Ability to work within a team
  • High level of professionalism
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
