Accountant, USAID Scholars Activity (Office of Student Financial Affairs and Scholarships), Grant Position

Job Purpose: The general purpose of the job is to provide day-to-day financial operations for all activities under the USAID Scholarship Activity award. This post works under the direct supervision of the project Finance Manager. This post also supports the implementation of relevant project

financial/accounting entries, reservations, processing of payments and record-keeping.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Perform grant-related post-award functions, including budget and expense analysis, periodic
  • invoicing, financial reporting, reconciliations, re-budgeting and other grant functions
  • required by different AUC units and USAID
  • Ensure compliance of all grant financial activities with USAID and AUC rules/regulations
  • Track and verify that there are sufficient budget funds to cover payment of expenditures in
  • advance
  • Prepare the payment request for all the project transactions
  • Keep control of the actual expenses and compare the in detail to the budget line items
  • Prepare Cash Advances and follow up on their settlements
  • Handle all the program activities financially with the Finance Manager, COP, DCOP, Grants
  • Accounting Office, Travel Office, and Supply Chain Management Office
  • Support Finance Manager to keep control of deadlines for financial quarterly and annual
  • reports and the grant monetary activities
  • Assist Finance Manager in preparing accurate on-demand financial reports as required
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports on grants for internal management purposes
  • Review invoices and provide account codes, when appropriate, for proper project accounting
  • Automate and streamline processes to enhance accuracy of data while minimizing manual
  • efforts
  • Expertly use of SAP accounting system
  • Other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

Minimum Education Requirement:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting

Experience:

  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in accounting
  • Previous grant accounting experience is required

Skills:

  • Fluency in English and Arabic
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications
  • Demonstrated analytical skills
  • A solid understanding of accounting principles in practice
  • Ability to multi-task and provide accurate results
  • Good user of SAP
