The Choudhary laboratory is technically and internationally diverse, and embedded in excellent environment that supports high-quality research and encourages interdisciplinary collaboration. This is clearly reflected by the group´s extensive collaboration with top-level international researchers, publications in top-ranked journals, and an outstanding track-record in training the next generation of researchers. The lab works closely with almost all other groups at CPR, especially with the “Clinical Proteomics” group led by Prof. Matthias Mann.
In our lab, we combine interdisciplinary technologies for systematic mapping of posttranslational modifications and protein-protein interactions relevant to specific biological pathways and processes (Narita et al. Nat Rev Mol Cell Biol 2019; Weinert and Narita et al., Cell 2018; Gupta et al., Cell 2018; Wild et al., Cell Rep 2016 and 2018; Scholz et al., Nat Biotech 2015; Choudhary et al., Nat Rev Mol cell Biol 2014 and 2010; Weinert et al., Mol Cell 2013; Povlsen and Beli et al., Nat Cell Biol 2012; and Beli et al. Mol Cell 2012). In addition to the state-of-the-art quantitative mass spectrometry, the laboratory is equipped with the cutting-edge infrastructure for molecular biology, cell biology and biochemistry work. Furthermore, CPR offers the latest technologies and expertise for the next-generation DNA/RNA sequencing, high-resolution microscopy, as well as the technologies for biophysical and structural characterization of proteins, including Cryo-EM. Our main models of study are human/mouse cell lines and murine embryonic stem cells (mESCs).
We are now looking for enthusiastic candidates with a PhD and/or MD to join our lab.
The group is broadly interested in studying PTM-based cellular signaling networks and functional analysis of novel protein complexes. The postdoc fellow will use a combination of quantitative proteomics and CRISPR-based genome editing to address fundamental biological questions in the areas of cell signaling/epigenetics/chromatin biology. Among other tasks, this will include generation of genetically modified cell lines using CRISPR-Cas9, and mass spectrometry-based analysis of posttranslational modifications and protein-protein interactions. The candidate is expected to apply various biochemical and molecular biology approaches for biological follow-up experiments on novel and interesting findings derived from large-scale proteomic screens. Tentative start date: Early 2020.
The candidate should have demonstrated excellent scientific productivity, evidenced by high-quality research publications, be able to conduct independent and creative research, and show good inter-personal and communication skills.
The candidate is required to have a PhD/MD or equivalent degree in natural or medical science.
Excellent scientific track-record, including at least one publication as first author in a high-quality, peer reviewed international journal.
Expert knowledge in one or more of the following areas would be considered an advantage:
Analysis of cell signaling with biochemistry and molecular biology approaches
Analysis of protein-protein interactions
Cell biology, biochemical analysis of protein activity and function
Molecular biology/CRISPR-based genome editing
Analysis of large-scale proteomic and/or genomic dataset
Prior experience in high resolution mass spectrometry is not essential.
Good communication skills, both oral and written.
An analytical aptitude for devising innovative scientific or technical solutions.
Demonstrate enthusiasm, motivation, flexibility and confidence.

*Terms of salary and employment*
Salary, pension and terms of employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Academics Central organization. Currently, the monthly salary is around 33,200-34,900 DKK (around 4,200-4,500 €) plus 17.1 % in pension contribution. The Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) have agreed on a protocol that makes it possible for all international researchers employed by the University to achieve a pension exemption, where the pension can be paid out as salary. Duration: The duration of the position is 2 years with a possible extension for up-to two years (depending on the performance, and previous employment at the University of Copenhagen).
