Copenhagen Business School invites applications for two Post-Doctoral Fellows in International Political Economy at the Department of Organization.
The postdoc positions are chiefly funded by the ‘ADD – Algoritmer, Data & Demokrati’ project funded by the Velux and Villum Foundations. The first post-doc position is for 36 months with a 34% teaching load. The second post-doc position is for 18 months with a 28% teaching load. This project is led by Professor Nørholm Sine Just at Roskilde University and the co-PI at CBS is Professor Leonard Seabrooke in the Department of Organization. Seabrooke is responsible for the work package on Financial Transparency that is based in the Department of Organization and will mentor the Post-Doctoral Fellows.
The ADD Financial Transparency project is concerned with how forms of professional diagnosis, inference, and treatment in the financial sector, including taxation and insurance, are changing as professionals work more with algorithms. The project is one of issue-areas being investigated in the ADD consortium, the others include cybersecurity and private life, predictive algorithms in public administration, health policy, and innovation.
The Post-Doctoral positions are expected to produce original research work on how forms of professional diagnosis, inference, and treatment in the financial sector are changing.
The positions entail also teaching duties. Teaching responsibilities of the Department of Organization comprise undergraduate and graduate teaching across a range of programs. Examples include organization theory and analysis as well as international and comparative political economy.
Core research areas of the Department of Organization are organization theory, organization and management studies, economic sociology, and international political economy. The department's researchers collaborate on specific research projects using a variety of quantitative as well as qualitative methods.

The Post-Doctoral Fellow has both research and teaching obligations.
To fulfill the research requirements of the position, the applicant(s) chosen is expected to be physically present on a regular basis and actively participate in the teaching and research activities of the Department. The successful applicant is obliged to participate in the assistant professor program at CBS on teaching principles and methods in order to fulfill the pedagogical requirements made at the end of the term of employment as assistant professor.
Responsibilities
- Conducting individual and group-based research meeting high international standards
- Teaching and associated examination in existing CBS programs
- Promoting CBS’s academic reputation
- Active participation in the regular research activities, such as research seminars, workshops and conferences.
- Initiating fund raising and coordinating research projects
- Promoting the teaching and research capabilities of Copenhagen Business School and other relevant assignments at Copenhagen Business School
- Communicating findings to the public in general and to CBS’s stakeholders in particular
The Post-Doctoral Fellow is expected to contribute to the development and application of the research of the department’s research areas and to maintain and strengthen CBS’s international research position.
Qualification
The applicant must hold a relevant PhD degree or the equivalent. Those who are submitting within six months must provide a statement from their primary advisor attesting to the viability of the submission date. Emphasis is placed on the applicant’s research potential, which means that a researcher with a large research potential may be preferred to a researcher with a large research production.
The applicant must have professional proficiency in English (written and spoken).

The Recruitment Committee will shortlist minimum two applicants; when possible five or more applicants will be shortlisted. The shortlisted applicants will be assessed by the Assessment Committee.
