Updated: 9 months ago
Deadline: 28 Jun 2023

Electronic health records(EHR) are a substantial foundation of the healthcare system and work as important entry points for producing and sharing healthcare data across diverse professional groups and stakeholders with different interests. As a piece of software, EHR systems are continuously updated to meet the needs of healthcare professionals. These updates may seem small, yet they are supposed to matter and solve problems ongoingly. While providing software improving updates is a significant part of IT professionals work, we know little about how these continuous updates affect the work practices of healthcare professionals.

The PhD project will investigate how practices of the healthcare professionals are mediated by the updates in new releases and how innovation is taking place continuously. The project will through an understanding of humans and technology as co-shaping entities seek to explore how EHR software updates matter to everyday work of healthcare professionals.

The selected candidate will become a part of the“Techno-anthropology and participation” research group.
