PhD position within Immunotherapy of Cancer and Drug Delivery is available in the Colloids & Biological interface group (CBIO) at DTU Health Technology.
The section for Biotherapeutic Engineering and Drug Targeting invites applicants for a fully funded 3-year PhD position in cancer immunotherapy and drug delivery systems.
The interplay between the immune system, stromal cells and cancer cells has been compellingly established as a central parameter in all aspects of cancer progression and successful therapeutic elimination. The CBIO group is focused on improving drug delivery systems and vaccine technologies for anti-cancer immunotherapy. The topic of the open PhD position falls within this line of research, and has the ambitious focus of inventing novel methods to improve cancer immunotherapy.
Responsibilities and tasks
The PhD position focuses on development of drug delivery systems that target immune cells to induce potent and durable anti-cancer responses. The focus in the project is to investigate targeting of immune cell subsets, evaluate cellular immune responses and investigate immune cell polarization in cancerous tissue. The challenging project requires a highly motivated candidate that can be part of an international level research team and both work independently and as part of a team. The candidates should have a background in immunology or similar experience.
Candidates should have a two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) in engineering or master’s degree in relevant life sciences, chemistry or equivalent (strong focus on immuno-oncology is a plus but not a prerequisite).
In addition, applicants should:
- Have excellent communication skills in English, oral and written
- Be comfortable in working within interdisciplinary fields

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union. The period of employment is 3 years.
The student will be based at DTU Health Technology, DTU Lyngby Campus.
