A 3-year PhD scholarship, financed by the Carlsberg Foundation, within metal-organic framework (MOF) chemistry is available at the Department of Chemistry. The project will be under supervision of Professor Kasper S. Pedersen (http://www.kasperpedersen.org ">www.kasperpedersen.org ) and is starting as soon as possible.
The PhD project will focus on the design, synthesis, and characterization of new types metal-organic network structures using synthetic principles borrowed from organometallic chemistry. The materials will be assessed from applications in small-molecule activation and catalysis. This includes also the detailed elucidation of structural, physical properties, and electronic structures. Active dissemination of the obtained results, in scientific articles and through participation in international conferences, is an integral part of the job.
Responsibilities and qualifications
The candidate should have a Master’s degree (120 ECTS points; or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master's degree) in chemistry with a focus on synthetic inorganic or organic chemistry. Experience with crystallography, spectroscopy, and handling of air- and moisture sensitive compounds are considered advantageous. Most importantly, the candidate should be highly motivated, able to work independently and should be confident in both written and spoken English. The applicant should strive towards scientific excellence, be ambitious and hard working. Only applicants, who seek to be among the brightest in their field and do science at the highest international level, will be considered.
Approval and Enrolment
The scholarship for the PhD degree is subject to academic approval, and the candidate will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes at DTU. For information about our enrolment requirements and the general planning of the PhD study programme, please see https://www.dtu.dk/english/Education/PhD/Rules DTU's rules for the PhD education.
The assessment of the candidates will be made by Professor Kasper S. Pedersen.
