DTU Nanotech conducts research, education and innovation within micro- and nanotechnologies across a wide range of scientific disciplines consisting of: materials fabrication, optics, chemistry, nanomedicine and biotechnology. Research within the Bioinspired Nanomaterials group at DTU Nanotech involves the use of programmable nanochemistry and utilization of innate biologically active functionalities to create catalytic nanomedicines for disease therapy. Our research is highly interdisciplinary, spanning chemical synthesis, materials science and in vitro and in vivo biology.

Responsibilities and tasks
A PhD position is available within the Bioinspired Nanomaterials group for the investigation of polymeric nanomedicines for heart disease. The project will involve synthesis and testing of polymeric nanoparticles with unique properties and shapes. The developed nanoparticles will then be tested for combination therapy of chronic inflammatory diseases such as atherosclerosis.

The ideal candidate should hold a Master level degree in polymer chemistry or chemical engineering. The applicant should have a strong academic record, be fluent in English, with excellent communication skills, and interested in working within a collaborative and cross-disciplinary environment. They should strive towards developing scientific skills at the highest level, be ambitious and hard working. Approval and Enrolment

The salary and appointment terms are consistent with the current rules for PhD degree students. The period of employment is 3 years.
