PhD Projects in CO2 Utilization
Department of Chemistry
Faculty of SCIENCE
University of Copenhagen

Department of Chemistry, organic chemisty section invites applicants for four PhD fellowships in organic chemistry. The projects are part of the research projects financed by DFF-Sapere Aude, Carlsberg Foundation, and Novo Nordisk CO2 Research center.

Start date is (expected to be) 1st March 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The projects

  • CO2 in Homologation reactions and the origin of life
  • CO2 responsive materials
  • CO2 capture and conversion (two positions)
  • Who are we looking for?

We are looking for candidates within the field(s) of organic chemistry. Applicants can have a background from synthetic organic chemistry, methodology developments, polymer chemistry, materials chemistry, carbon capture and utilization, physical organic chemistry and catalysis. All candidates will be assessed in one pool however the applicant may specify which project is applied for in the CV and cover letter.

Our group and research- and what do we offer?

The  Lee  groupcurrently  consists  of  6  PhD  students  and  4  MSc-level  students,  and  2  Postdocs, total 12 researchers. The group is international (Denmark, South Korea,  China,  Italy, France, India, and Lithuania) and  vibrant  with  different  projects covering subjects of not only methodology developement but also organometallic  chemistry,  supramolecular chemistry, electrochemistry  and  polymer chemistry,  but  all  centered  on  synthetic  organic  chemistry  around  carbon  dioxide.

Our group is associated with NNF CO2 Center which will intensively working on CO2 capture and conversion processes in collaboration with world-leading scientists in the Technical University of Denmark, Stanford University, the University of Tromsø, the University of Tübingen and the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research.
