We are looking for a skilled and highly innovative colleague, with strong experience in human diagnostics. Someone with excellent organisational skills who can independently initiate and coordinate new projects, whilst maintaining overview and quality.

Centre for Diagnostics (CfD) DTU
The Centre harbors a group that develops new and innovative diagnostic assays in collaboration with DTU institutes, hospitals, universities and the biotech industry. Our technologies are used for biomarker detection, laboratory analyses, point of care devices (POCT) and other solutions in hospitals and in the industry and thus creates broad value for society.

In addition, CfD operates a commercial diagnostic business, mainly within PCR and serological diagnostics serving hospitals and the industry.

The job
The position involves several tasks of which planning and executing tasks relating to daily operations are some of them:

  • You will play a crucial part in planning, executing and following up on meetings with industrial partners, help securing contracts, and attract more business.
  • You will coordinate and collaborate with other groups at DTU Health Technology and across departments.
  • You will be responsible for planning and executing work shifts for the people working in the laboratory during routine sample testing.
  • You will be included as part of the laboratory staff and master techniques such as ELISA, Luminex, Mesoscale and PCR in addition to pre-treatment and purification of RNA/DNA from samples.
  • You are expected to take active part in the analysis of diagnostic and research data. 

The position also involves tasks within diagnostic device development:

  • You are expected to take active part in the development of new methods in project collaboration with hospitals, DTU institutes and the biotech industry.
  • You will be responsible for coordinating projects. You will manage all aspects of projects independently, and take responsibility for contracts and dialogue with internal and external parties.
  • You will keep an overview of funding opportunities for the center and take part in target discovery and writing grant proposals
  • We expect you to stay up-to-date and contribute with, knowledge of the latest state-of-the art diagnostic methods.

The department works quality-assured in accordance with ISO standards, and quality assurance is therefore an important element of working with us.

You will be based in CfD that currently consist of three assay developers, five lab technician, one molecular biologist and two quality assurance specialist and a business developer. We aim to expand in parallel with our portfolio of projects.

Our expectations for you
We expect you to have the following background and competencies:

  • MScEng. or similar with solid experience in molecular biology and serology
  • Solid hands on experience with molecular and immunological techniques such as RT-qPCR, sequencing and immune-based assays
  • Several years of experience in the laboratory with method development, assay optimization and implementation
  • A strong mindset for working quality assured
  • Experience with independent project coordination and budgeting
  • Experience with coordinating the work of laboratory technicians
  • Excellent collaboration skills
  • Efficient and solution-oriented
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills

Salary and appointment terms
Terms of appointment and payment according to the Agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Federation of Professional Associations (AC) or other relevant agreement.

The successful candidate will be employed at DTU in a full-time position. Starting date is as soon as possible.

The place of work is primarily Centre for Diagnostics, DTU Health Tech in Lyngby, Building 202.
