Computational postdoctoral position in Khodosevich group at BRIC, University of Copenhagen

We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic researcher, who will join a team of molecular and cellular biologists and computational scientists studying how human neurodevelopmental disorders arise during brain development and maturation. The position is fulltime (37 working hours in average per week) and is for 2 years.

The Research Centre
The Biotech Research and Innovation Centre (BRIC) is a research centre of excellence for biomedical research, focusing on disease-oriented basic research, at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.  BRIC hosts 24 independent research groups that perform basic and translational research aimed to understand diseases like cancer, neurological and metabolic disorders.

Our research
Our lab is interested in brain development and how developmental mechanisms could be employed in brain regeneration. In particular, we are interested in neuronal differentiation and maturation during brain development in terms of gene expression, functional properties and connectivity.

Your job
You will investigate how mainly on single cell and bulk omics analysis of neurons during brain development in normal and disordered human brains and in mouse models.

We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic scientists with the following competences and experience:


  • You have a PhD in Neuroscience with focus on omics and big data analysis.
  • You have strong computational skills in single cell data analysis.
  • You have and excellent track record with several published papers where your contribution was essential.
  • You have proficient communication skills and ability to work in teams.
  • You have excellent English skills written and spoken.

BRIC has extensive international collaborations and actively participates in the European alliance, EU-LIFE consisting of 13 excellent life science research institutions and is part of the EU-funded LIBRA initiative to obtain gender balance in life science research.

BRIC has a highly international profile (more than 60 % international researchers) and English as working language.

Start date: January 2021 or after agreement.

Terms of salary and employment
Salary, pension and terms of employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Academics Central organization.

Currently, the monthly salary starts at DKK 34,654 / approx. EUR 4,620. An additional 17.1 % monthly contribution to pension will be paid by the employer. Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated.  

Non-Danish and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions, if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years. 

The position is covered by the “Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff at the Universities” of June 28, 2013.
