PhD fellowship in Electrocatalysis
PhD Project in Bimetallic and Multimetallic Nanomaterials for Electrocatalysis
Department of Chemistry
Faculty of SCIENCE
University of Copenhagen
Department of Chemistry invites applicants for a PhD fellowship in the preparation and characterisation of bimetallic and multimetallic nanomaterials for electrocatalytic reactions. The project is part of the Center for High Entropy Alloy Catalysis.
Start date is March 1st 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The project
The applicant will be focused on the preparation and characterization of bimetallic and multimetallic nanostructures for renewable energy conversion reactions. The candidate will combine classical electrochemical methods with in situ infrared spectroscopy, online gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and in situ and operando synchrotron-based techniques. The nanomaterials will be prepared by different methods including electrodeposition in ionic liquids and tested for different electrocatalytic reactions such as the reduction of carbon dioxide to valuable fuels and chemicals. The candidate will work on the preparation and characterization of multimetallic compounds and high entropy alloys in close collaboration with the theoretical electrocatalysis group at the Department of Chemistry.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for candidates within the field(s) of chemistry, chemical engineering, nanoscience and nanotechnology, materials science and engineering, physics or related areas. Applicants can have a background from electrochemistry, electrodeposition, catalysis and structural characterization techniques in nanoscience.
Our group and research- and what do we offer?
The group is a part of Department of Chemistry, Faculty of SCIENCE, University of Copenhagen. We are located in Copenhagen.
We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in dynamic and international research environment. Our research facilities include modern laboratories and equipment.
Principal supervisor isAssociate Professor Maria Escudero Escribano,Department of Chemistry, [email protected].
