We invite motivated and skilled candidates to apply for the PostDoc position in a newly established Department of Experimental and Functional Morphology

Your role will involve:

  • Your own project focused on relationship between plant age and morphological and anatomical traits in temperate perennial herbs. Existing datasets are available.
  • Exploring plant traits along environmental gradients and in manipulative experiments considering evolutionary constraints.
  • Opportunities to master anatomical and morphological methods (herbchronology, functional anatomy, clonal growth and bud bank traits) and combine them with your individual research focus.
  • Collecting and analysing data, interpreting results, writing scientific papers, presenting at conferences.
  • Co-operation with other members of Třeboň ´s international research team and with internal and external partners.

Contract duration: This is a two-year appointment with the possibility of extension.

Required qualifications:

  • Ph.D. degree in fields related to plant functional ecology (e.g., plant biology, plant ecology, biodiversity conservation) achieved no more than 8 years ago
  • Knowledgeable of statistical analyses applied to ecology
  • A reasonable command of English (spoken and written)

Welcomed skills:

  • Experience with anatomical and morphological analyses of plants
  • Confidence in presenting before audiences (both scientific and non-specialist public)
  • Self-driven team player with a passion for learning
