Contest point 9 – Doctoral Student

Prerequisites for Appointment to Assistant Position: In addition to the general conditions for employment, applicants must meet the requirements stipulated in Article 43 in the Scientific Activity and Higher Education Act and the following additional criteria:

• Master’s degree (graduate or integrated study of chemistry or chemical engineering)
• the total average of the grades at the previous levels of study (undergraduate, graduate or integrated study) which provides for enrollment in Doctoral study Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry
• interest in research in materials science, radiation chemistry and electrochemistry
• active knowledge of written and spoken English
• preference will be given to the applicants with experience in the science of corrosion and coating characterization, and with experience in working with electrochemical techniques, as well as techniques necessary for the characterization of coatings on metals

Applications should include: resume, appropriate diploma or certificate of completion of the study, a transcript of passed courses and GPA, e-mail contact of at least one person for a recommendation, and other evidence that the conditions and additional criteria are fulfilled. Appointment to an Assistant position is for a temporary period of 4 years, with a probationary period of 6 months. Doctoral students are required to enroll in doctoral study. If the assistant candidate has already been employed in a state-funded workplace, the employment will be based on the remaining 4 years. The selected candidates who achieved their higher qualifications outside Croatia will be required to obtain the Ruling on the Recognition of Foreign Higher Educational Qualifications issued by the Agency for Science and Higher Education before the signing of the employment contract. An applicant whose doctoral education has already been funded by the Croatian Science Foundation, but has given up, cannot apply for the competition. The employment contract with the assistant doctoral student can be concluded upon receipt of the consent of the Croatian Science Foundation.
