The Lab for Molecular Ecotoxicology, Division for Marine and Environmental Research at the Rudjer Boskovic Institute, Zagreb, Croatia invites applications for a position as a Ph.D. research fellow within the field of biology - molecular biology. The Ph.D. fellowship is financed by the 4-year grant given by the Croatian National Science Foundation for the work on the bilateral project " Structural characterization of factors involved in DNA-protein crosslink repair (CRO-SI-LINK)" funded by the Slovenian Research Agency ARRS and Croatian Science Foundation under the project IPS-2020-01, 4225. The aim of the CRO-SI-LINK research project is to elucidate the molecular mechanisms behind the DNA-protein crosslink repair pathway. The specific objective of Ph.D. thesis will be to perform protein purifications, biochemical and biophysical characterization of proteins involved in DNA-crosslink repair, and to solve near-atomic details of chosen target protein complexes using cryo-EM. The candidate will also perform functional analysis for chosen target proteins using a cell culture system. The Ph.D. candidate will be expected to enroll in a doctoral study program of Biology or Biochemistry at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Zagreb, Croatia or similar.
