Position Summary:
The candidate will advise Bachelor of Commerce students on course and program selection and information regarding student affairs activities (e.g. transfers, academic credit and standing, etc.). This position will also be responsible for evaluating academic transcripts to determine acceptability, transfer credit, and academic standing; ensure accuracy of student records in assessing individual circumstances and adjust program and/or course requirements. The incumbent will provide guidance to students on Student Affairs policies and procedures related to University and student life.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Advise and promote all programs of study within the BCom Program.
  • Provide degree planning and guidance on choosing majors and/or concentrations, determining appropriate credit load and planning for course registration.
  • Provide guidance to incoming and outgoing exchange students.
  • Analyze past exchange data and maintain current exchange data.
  • Participate in outreach, promotion, program and recruiting events. Hands-on planning for major university and BCom events, such as Parent's Orientation, Discover McGill and Orientation Week and the annual Open House.
  • Act as advisor to all types of advanced standing students.


Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
Advising and student affairs experience. Ability to listen and provide students with appropriate guidance or referrals. Demonstrated ability to deal effectively and diplomatically in delicate situations. Proven knowledge of the functions of the Desautels Faculty of Management and/or the University. Attention to detail. Strong organizational skills with an ability to meet multiple deadlines. Demonstrated ability to work in a MS Office environment and have experience using Banner SIS. English, spoken and written. French, spoken.


Minimum Education and Experience:


Bachelor's Degree 1 Year Related Experience with Bachelor’s Degree / DEC III 3 Years Related Experience with DEC III


Annual Salary:


(MPEX Grade 03) $51,190.00 - $63,980.00 - $76,770.00
