Scholarships and Student Aid
McGill’s Scholarship and Student Aid Office (SSAO) advises McGill students on funding options, budgeting, and debt management. They disburse all provincial, federal, and US student aid funding, and help with government aid information and documentation. They offer an Entrance Bursary Program, Entrance Scholarships, an In-Course Financial Aid Program (loans and bursaries) and a Work Study Program based on financial need.


Position Summary:
Reporting to the Associate Director Operations, plans, develops and implements administrative procedures, policies and processes in relation to operations, funding and contract stewardship, merit-based undergraduate Entrance Scholarship & award programs, Work Study employer relations as well as internal and external communications. Supports student engagement in donor stewardship and provides reporting of program and fund-based outcomes.  Works on special projects under the direction of Scholarships and Student Aid unit leadership.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manages physical space, assets (and disposal thereof) and operational budget to ensure the smooth running of the unit.
  • Manages all contractual agreements and partnerships related to student aid and awards, including targeted programs for Indigenous and other under-represented segments.
  • Develops funding proposals and recommends budgets
  • Oversight and administration of Work Study Program employer subsidy management to ensure optimal deployment of funding to the benefit of students in financial need seeking on-campus jobs.
  • Provides professional communications advice, support and quality control to advance strategic and operational goals, including programs and service awareness.
  • Plans external entrance and in-course scholarship competitions; constitutes Selection Committees; manages scholarship offers and renewal processes.
  • Performs adjudication for One-Time and Major Renewable Scholarship programs. Screens major applications submitted..
  • Management and monitoring of entrance cycle (scholarshipand bursary) selections, offers, acceptances, assignments to donor funds respecting award terms and ongoing student registration, eligibility verification and renewals.
  • Collaborates with University Advancement (UA) in the establishment of new awards, donor stewardship, donor communications and alumni mentorship.
  • Develops web content, promotional materials, workshops on scholarship topics, e.g., types of scholarships available, criteria for selection, requirements for renewals, etc.


Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

  • Knowledge of admissions and worldwide school systems
  • Knowledge of student scholarship programs.
  • Must be detail-oriented to manage and update constant changes of information.
  • High degree of flexibility in managing multiple files simultaneously, with the ability to prioritize and meet strict deadlines.
  • High level of interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Client-focused and service oriented, with an ability to effectively communicate with internal and external contacts.
  • Able to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Proven ability to deal with confidential information with discretion.
  • Must have demonstrated experience and ease with new technological applications.
  • Computer literate with all Microsoft Office tools, MINERVA, Banner SIS and BSA.
  • Public relations experience, an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills:
  • English, written and spoken.
  • French, written, and spoken.


Minimum Education and Experience:


Bachelor's Degree 3 Years Related Experience /


Annual Salary:


(MPEX Grade 04) $58,470.00 - $73,090.00 - $87,710.00
