Open Scholarship and Digital Initiatives Replacement Librarian (Copyright Services and Open Scholarship)

The University of Ottawa Library seeks an innovative, motivated and service-oriented Open Scholarship and Digital Initiatives Replacement Librarian (Copyright Services and Open Scholarship). The successful candidate will be a creative individual who works well with other colleagues in a challenging and changing environment.

Duties: The incumbent is responsible, under the direction of the Copyright Officer and Manager, for activities in support of compliance and proactive management of copyright matters for the University of Ottawa. The incumbent actively engages in education and outreach to provide guidance on copyright issues related to teaching, research, and library services.

The incumbent also serves the research and scholarly needs of faculty and students by supporting new modes of scholarly communication, with a focus on open scholarship principles, and in support of the strategic objectives of the University of Ottawa and its library.

Terms: Replacement Librarian (1 year term)

Wage: Rank and the salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Skills requirements:

Education:

A Master’s degree in Library and Information Studies (MLIS) from an ALA accredited institution or equivalent.

Work experience:

• Knowledge of Canadian copyright legislation including current issues within higher education;
• Knowledge of broad trends and issues relating to one or more of the following: open education, open pedagogy, open licensing, open access, open science, open scholarship, scholarly communication
• Excellent leadership, oral and written communication and interpersonal skills;
• A proven service orientation with a willingness to collaborate and share expertise, as well as work in teams and negotiate solutions with diverse groups;
• Experience in management, organization and marketing of library services;
• Bilingual (English and French), written and spoken, including the ability to make presentations and train in both official languages.
