Description: Dr. Wonjae Chang’s Lab in the Department of Civil, Geological and Environmental Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Canada ( ), is looking for highly motivated graduate students (1 PhD and 1 MSc) to conduct environmental remediation research for contaminated soils and groundwater. Knowledge of statistical data analyses for contaminated soil and groundwater characterization is a valuable asset, along with strong laboratory and analytical skills, including experience with petroleum hydrocarbon analyses (e.g., GC-FID, GC-MS), instrumentation analyses (e.g., XRD/XRF, SEM, TEM) for mineral and clay mineral characterization, and/or microbial culturing techniques and microbial community analyses (e.g., sequencing and analyzing metagenomics data). Interested candidates are required to have a Master degree for PhD, or a Barchelor degree for MSc, in engineering (civil, environmental, geological, chemical/material, or biological), geomicrobiology, biotechnology, soil science, geological science or in other closely related environmental engineering or science programs. Applicants must also meet the English proficiency requirements (e.g., TOEFL) and other requirements for admission to the University of Saskatchewan’s College of Graduate Studies and Research:
