Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Population Genetics

A post-doctoral position is immediately available to work on population genomics of Native Americans at Hünemeier’s Lab ( ) at the Institute of Biosciences, University of São Paulo, Brazil. The project aims to understand the evolutionary causes and mechanisms involved in the Native American populations’ response to pathogens.


The qualified applicant will have a Ph.D. degree in Bioinformatics, Evolutionary Biology, Computational Biology, Genetics, or a related field. Bioinformatics experience and previous experience with NGS analysis (present-day and ancient) using a Cloud environment are essential, as well as a strong background in population genomics. The applicant should have experience with Linux/Unix and scripting languages (Python and R).

This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationalities. The selected candidate will receive a Post-Doctoral fellowship from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) in the amount of R$ 7,373.10 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 15% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent in items directly related to the research activity.
