Updated: 4 months ago
Deadline: 20 Dec 2019

The Pasteur-USP Scientific Platform announces the opening of a post-doctoral position within the Thematic Project entitled “Integrated strategy for the study of infectious agents that cause emerging and / or neglected diseases transmitted by global impact vectors”.

The vacancy is related to subproject 2, entitled “Modeling of congenital disease caused by Zika virus in the central nervous system and drug testing”. The selected candidate will receive a post-doctoral fellowship granted by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) lasting 24 months.

The selected candidate will join a project that aims to investigate the mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of ZIKV in the CNS using 2D human and 3D cell models of iPSC-derived brain organoids. We intend to use these systems to create a platform for in vitro drug testing that acts against ZIKV infection and contributes to improving the phenotype of babies born with Zika Congenital Syndrome.

Scholar participation in the project and associated subprojects will be critical as it requires, in addition to laboratory experience, knowledge of project management and, fundamentally, knowledge of biosafety and quality standards.

This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationalities. The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP’s Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of R$ 7,373.10 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 15% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent in items directly related to the research activity.
