Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Molecular Mechanisms of Sickle Cell Retinopathy

Post-doctoral fellowship to study the molecular mechanisms involved in sickle cell retinopathy at the Center for Molecular Biology and Genetic Engineering of UNICAMP (Campinas, Brazil), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mônica Barbosa de Melo. The research is a subproject of the Thematic Project “Pathophysiological mechanisms and treatment of red blood cell abnormalities”, coordinated by Prof. Dr. Fernando F. Costa.

Requirements: Ph.D. completed in the last 5 years in Genetics, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or similar area; fluency in the English language; experience in handling and execution of experimental procedures in animal model; experience in molecular biology techniques, including qRT-PCR, western blot, cell culture, cell separation by flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence. Availability for internship abroad is desirable.

This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationalities. The selected candidate will receive a Post-Doctoral fellowship from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) for a minimum period of 2 years in the amount of R$ 7,373.10 monthly, and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent in items directly related to the research activity.
