Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Immunology of Tuberculosis

A position is available at the Laboratory of Immunology of Infectious Diseases, Department of Immunology, University of São Paulo’s Biomedical Sciences Institute (ICB-USP) in Brazil, with the aim of investigating the role of the ATP-adenosine axis in the development of severe experimental tuberculosis. FAPESP, the São Paulo Research Foundation, will support the post-doctoral fellowship for a period of 8 months and 23 days.

Required skills and experience:

a) Doctorate completed less than 7 years ago and being scientifically motivated, innovative and able to work independently within a collaborative team;

b) Previous experience in immunology with an emphasis on human diseases and murine experimental models of pulmonary infections confirmed by publications and/or master’s and doctoral dissertation/thesis;

c) Practical experience in acquisition and analysis of multiparametric flow cytometry, cell culture, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy, PCR, western blot, as well as other molecular biology techniques. Experience with lung infection and surgery in mice is desirable. Training in a level 3 biosafety laboratory and experience with in vivo and in vitro culture assays and infection with mycobacteria are highly recommended skills.

This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationality. The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP's Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of R$ 7,373.10 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent in items directly related to the research activity.
