Master's Fellowship in Evolutive Genetics

Updated: 6 months ago
Deadline: 20 May 2019

A Master scholarship within Research Project (process 2015/20139-9) funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) via its Young Investigator Award scheme is available. The main goal from the proposal is evaluating the environmental effect on the connectivity of marine invertebrates from Brazilian the Southeast Coast.

During the Master, the student will investigate one of the groups analyzed on the JYoung Investigator proposal in a more detailed approach. The student will focus on the Nemertean group, and the species studied are widespread distributed on the coast and seem to belong to species complexes. The student will learn molecular biology, and population genetics, species concepts, phylogeography and biogeography analyses using theses species as models.

I am looking for candidates that have a degree on Biological Sciences and some experience on basic molecular biology tools. Previous experience on statistical analysis of population genetics and phylogeography are desirable, but not mandatory.

Interested students can send me an email ( ) with a short CV and a one page latter presenting themselves.

The selected candidate will need to do the genetics exam at the Graduate School of Genetic Biology at the University of São Paulo ( ) and I can provide more detailed information, if needed. The student will receive the FAPESP Master scholarship for two years, beginning in August, 2019.
