Eligibility criteria

You hold a PhD in history or Chinese Studies for at least five years at the start of this position. You are an internationally acknowledged researcher and you possess excellent qualifications in the field of this vacancy. You can demonstrate this by means of leading international publications and proven international research experience. You have the didactic skills to provide excellent teaching at the university. The official administrative language used at KU Leuven is Dutch. If you do not speak Dutch (or do not speak it well) at the start of employment, KU Leuven will provide language training to enable you after three years to take part in meetings and to teach courses in Dutch. The evaluation resulting from your successful ERC grant application will be used for evaluating your application for this position. As for all academic staff vacancies, your application will be subject to the advice of the nomination committee of the faculty. The final decision regarding your application will be taken by the Special Academic Council.
