Job content
The exercises that patients must perform at home, or between the rehabilitation sessions with the therapists, are an important part of rehabilitation. Commercial video games can be used to increase patients’ motivation but do not provide feedback and are not based on rehabilitation schemes. Specific solutions (i.e., Valeo®Motion) have been developed for rehabilitation purposes but allow only a moderate level of parametrization, assessment, and required specific materials. Therefore specific solutions, the serious games, have been developed to be used in rehabilitation. During this project you will evaluate the possibility of performing simple and regular functional evaluation of the patients while they are performing the exercises. Several aspects will be investigated: a laboratory validation (comparison with a gold-standard (i.e., the GRAIL system)), evaluation of various group of patients to correlate the score of the games with the clinics. Finally we will evaluate if such kind of solutions can be implemented (feasibility and efficacy) at-home with without the supervision of clinicians to perform telerehabilitation and telemonitoring.
