PhD Student

Almost all data has a time and/or geo aspect to it. During your PhD you will get the opportunity to create a vision on how to bring together geospatial querying and time series analysis with Open Data and public Web APIs.

We publish datasets such as the Flemish address registry, air quality sensor data, geospatial gazetteers, parking occupancies, traffic information, public transit timetables, etc. using a hypermedia description called the TREE and Linked Data Event Streams specification available at https://tree.linkeddatafragments.org. You will work as part of this team of researchers with a common roadmap.

Your profile
● Degree: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Informatics, ICT or related field
● Advanced programming skills in at least 1 major programming language

The Knowledge on Web-Scale team (https://knows.idlab.ugent.be/ ) at Ghent University – imec is renowned for its creative research on Knowledge Graphs on the Web.
