The Ghent University research group 4BRAIN (headed by Prof. dr. Paul Boon, Prof. Dr. Kristl Vonck and Prof. Dr. Robrecht Raedt) has a vacancy for a researcher interested in clinical research in the field of Brain Health.
The researcher will join our translational research team and will be supported on a daily basis by a team of Clinical and Research Professors.


Job profile

The applicant should have a master’s degree in medicine, psychology, biomedical sciences, biomedical engineering or neuroscience (or another relevant Master degree) and experience with and/or a strong interest in the domains of clinical neurophysiology. Knowledge in the field of artificial intelligence deep learning and machine learning is highly appreciated. The candidate should be a collaborative, dynamic person who likes to work in a multidisciplinary and inter-university research environment. He or she should have a very good knowledge of the English language and excellent communication skills (written and spoken). The applicant should have a scientific attitude towards excellence, be creative and precise, have problem-solving capacities and planning skills.
For clinical research projects, 4BRAIN has a direct link with the Neurology Department of Ghent University Hospital and the affiliated Reference Center for Refractory Epilepsy (RCRE). This provides direct access to a large facility for brain monitoring through state-of-the-art clinical diagnostic and therapeutic tools relevant in the field such as electrophysiology including scalp, depth and subdural EEG recording and MEG.


Our Offer
  • We offer a full-time position as a doctoral fellow, consisting of an initial period of 12 months, which - after a positive evaluation, will be extended to a total maximum of 48 months.
  • Your contract will start on September 1, 2024 at the earliest.
  • The fellowship amount is 100% of the net salary of an AAP member in equal family circumstances. The individual fellowship amount is determined by the Department of Personnel and Organization based on family status and seniority. A grant that meets the conditions and criteria of the regulations for doctoral fellowships is considered free of personal income tax. Click here for more information about our salary scales
