Exploring infants: 4-year PhD position in cognitive psychology at the ULB

Project description. Adélaïde de Heering from the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB ) is currently hiring a PhD student for 4 years (full-time contract) to join her lab, lulLABy , and work on a research project recently funded by an ARC consolidator grant . The aim of this project is to apprehend the infancy of the human brain from an infant-centred perspective.

Job description. The recruited candidate will study how infants and toddlers exploit/explore their visual environment and how this activity impacts the plasticity of their brain. To do so, s(h)e will be recruiting, testing, and interpreting infant/toddlers’ data collected from behavioural settings. (S)he will be working under the close supervision of Adélaïde de Heering (PI of this project). The ARC consolidator grant will be fully funding the PhD candidate for 48 months, provided the candidate successfully passes their intermediary exam at 24 months.

Host laboratory. The research program will take place at the Center for Research in Cognition and Neurosciences (CRCN ), which unites 5 well-connected and internationally oriented research units investigating the human brain from different angles and perspectives. The CRCN houses a fully functional BabyLab equipped with behavioural and neuroimaging facilities (Biosemi system included).
