The Department of Transport and Regional Economics in the Faculty of Business Economics is looking for a full-time (100%) doctoral scholarship holder in the field of urban logistics

Position

  • You will work actively on the preparation of a PhD thesis on collaborative consumer logistics. The PhD project entails the exploration of the Logistics-as-a-Service concept in the context of urban logistics. You will work together with three cities in the Flanders region while collaborating with researchers from around Europe within an international project setting.
  • You will publish scientific articles related to the research project.
  • You will carry out a limited number of teaching and research support tasks for the classes on urban transport and regional economics.

Profile

  • You hold a Master degree in the fields of Transportation, Logistics, Economics, (Business) Engineering or Geography.
  • You can demonstrate excellent study results.
  • Your teaching competences are in line with the University of Antwerp’s educational vision .
  • Your research qualities are in line with the faculty and university research policies .
  • You act with attention to quality, integrity, creativity and cooperation.
  • You are open to engage with your peers, both in the Flemish and the international setting.
  • You have excellent English writing and oral skills. Knowledge of Dutch is a plus.

What we offer

  • We offer a doctoral scholarship for a period of two years. Following a positive evaluation, the scholarship can be renewed for another two years.
  • The planned start date is 1 January 2023 or as soon as possible after that date.
  • Your monthly scholarship amount is calculated according to the scholarship amounts  for doctoral scholarship holders on the pay scales for Contract Research Staff (Dutch: Bijzonder Academisch Personeel, BAP).
  • You will receive ecocheques, Internet-connectivity allowance, and a bicycle allowance or a full reimbursement of public transport costs for commuting.
  • You will do most of your work at the Stadcampus in a dynamic and stimulating working environment in the city center of Antwerp, located in the heart of Western Europe.
  • You have the opportunity to present your research findings on international conferences.
