Job profile:
The Affective Neuroscience Lab at the University of Innsbruck (Austria) is considering applications for a funded 4-year PhD position. The PhD student will contribute to several programs of research in the lab, including the cognitive and neural mechanisms involved in emotion regulation, emotion, and social decision-making. The lab uses functional neuroimaging and behavioral paradigms. More information on the lab's research can be found at http://www.affectiveneuro.at .
The position is designed for a talented and productive researcher with a MA in psychology, or a neuroscience-related field.
The aim of the research project is to investigate the neural basis of emotional perception and emotion regulation. The main tasks are the development and conduction of fMRI studies in the field of social emotion regulation. This includes the data collection, data analysis, interpretation, presentation (at international and national conferences) and publication of the results.
• Excellent master and doctoral degree in psychology, cognitive neuroscience, cognitive science, or an equivalent discipline
• Special interest in the field of affective neuroscience (demonstrated by a research statement, 1-2 pages)
• Solid background in statistical analysis (preferred in R, SPSS)
• programming experience (e.g. Matlab, Python)
• English language skills in speaking and writing
• High motivation and interest in interdisciplinary and empirical research
• knowledge of typical neuroimaging analysis (e.g., decoding, connectivity)
• knowledge in the field of cognitive neuroscience and neuroimaging (especially fMRI) evidenced by publications and/ or conference contributions
• Interest and willingness to work in a team
• German language skills in speaking and writing
• Communication and presentation skills
• Specialized international and practical experience
very good communication and cooperation skills with colleagues and students
