Job profile:
A PhD position in Fungal Genetics and Molecular Biology with a special focus on sensing and signal transduction in mycoparasitic fungi is available at the Department of Microbiology, University of Innsbruck. The focus of our research activities is on unraveling microbial interactions, especially the interaction of mycoparasitic fungi with their fungal preys. The main tasks of the given position are: · Self-dependent research in the field of fungal interactions with a focus on communication, sensing and signal transduction in fungal mycoparasites and contribution to research activities in the research area Molecular Mycology and Mycoparasitism · Acquisition of third-party funding, preparation of publications, presentation of research results on conferences · Preparation of the dissertation (graduate thesis) · Teaching including co-supervision of Master and Bachelor students · Administration Qualifications: · Graduation (Master) in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or similar · Comprehensive knowledge and experience with microbiological, molecular biological and bioinformatics methods and approaches · The ideal candidate possesses experience and knowledge in filamentous fungal research · Self-dependence and willingness for research stays at national and international cooperation partners · High motivation, strong problem-solving skills, flexibility · Capacity for teamwork and excellent communication skills · Excellent knowledge of English · At least basic knowledge of German Please provide an outline of your planned research activities (ca 5 pages)
