Postdoc Position (f*m)

on exoplanet science

(full-time, 40h per week)

The institute invites applications for a three years postdoc position at the Space Research Institute (IWF, Graz; http://www.iwf.oeaw.ac.at/home/ ) in Austria to join the exoplanet research group led by Dr. Luca Fossati.

The Space Research Institute is involved in about 20 missions led by most of the world main space agencies. The exoplanet group focuses on the characterisation of exoplanet atmospheres and is highly international and fosters close collaborations among the team members. Furthermore, the group is heavily involved in the ESA/NASA exoplanet missions CHEOPS, PLATO, ARIEL, CUTE, and ESCAPE.

Your profile:

  • PhD in Physics, Geophysics, Astrophysics, or a related field.
  • Experience in the hydrodynamic modelling of exoplanetary upper atmospheres and in planetary atmospheric evolution modelling
  • Working on the modelling of upper atmospheres and atmospheric evolution of planets observed by the CHEOPS and CUTE missions and also to aid with the scientific preparations of the PLATO and ARIEL missions
  • to pursue independent research, in line with the group's interests

The appointment begins as early as October 1, 2021, but not later than December 2021, and will be for three years.

We offer an annual gross salary of € 49.718,34, according to the collective agreement of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW).
