Postdoc Position (f*m)

(full-time, 40h per week)

in the Quantum Foundations and Quantum Information Theory research group led by the Young Independent Researcher Group.

The YIRG group´s research interest focuses on the fundamental limitations causality imposes on physical theories and on information processing.

The “Young Independent Researcher Group” led by Dr. Yelena Guryanova, Dr. Ämin Baumeler and Dr. Costantino Budroni at the University of Vienna and at the Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information (IQOQI-Vienna) is now offering a Postdoc position to a highly motivated and well-qualified scientist to work on the project “Emergence of Causal Order in Quantum Theory and Beyond“. The project deals with causality in the interplay between theoretical physics and theoretical computer science.

Your task:

  • Theoretical research at the interface of quantum foundations and quantum information theory
  • Additionally:
  • Supporting the group leader in preparing project proposals
  • Being involved in administrative tasks such as supervision of students

Your profile:

  • PhD in physics or quantum physics
  • Experience in quantum mechanics
  • Experience in theoretical computer science
  • Ideally: Experience in writing project proposals and supervising students

We offer an annual gross salary of € 55.242,60 (full time based, before taxes) according to the salary scheme of the Austrian Science Fund (FWF ). Depending on qualification and experience, the salary can be negotiated.
