Updated: almost 2 years ago
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 30 Jul 2022

We are a translational bioinformatics research group at the Department of Dermatology at the Medical University of Vienna.

We are offering a

fully-funded PhD in Bioinformatics

To support our research in the role of B cells in the anti-tumour microenvironment using transcriptomics and proteomics.

Your tasks will be:
  • Analysis of single-cell RNA-sequencing data from our own studies and public data.

  • Analysis of bulk RNA-seq data and integration with single-cell RNA-sequencing data.

  • Multi-omics pathway analysis.

  • (optional) Analysis of MS-based proteomics data.

What we offer:
  • Training in R and Python-based bioinformatic data analysis

  • Training in large-scale multi-omics data integration

  • Automated data analysis using nextflow and docker for reproducible research

  • Use of high-performance computing environments

  • Depending on interest: Training in sample prep for transcriptomics and proteomics analyses

Who we are:

Our bioinformatic focus is the analysis of (single-cell) transcriptomics and MS-based proteomics data. Our group also includes medical doctors and technicians who perform the clinical studies where we acquire our samples from. Sample processing is done with collaborating core facilities for transcriptomics and mass spectrometry. For large-scale data analyses we have access to Austria’s largest high-performance compute cluster.
