The University for Continuing Education Krems specializes in part-time academic continuing education. As a public university for continuing education, it works with its expertise in teaching and research to overcome societal challenges and tailors its study programs to address them. Situated 60 km from Vienna in the alluring world heritage region Wachau, Campus Krems is a highly attractive location.
Within the framework of the project PromoLi, the University for Continuing Education Krems, funded by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection, is offering the position as an Early Stage Researcher – PhD student (m/f/d). The PromoLi project is a career advancement program for young scientists from the group of people with disabilities and/or chronic illnesses , aiming to support them and ensure scientific excellence.

The advertised position within the project PromoLi project offers the opportunity to focus on the dissertation project, aiming to successfully complete it by the end of the employment period. The position entails the following tasks to integrate into the research field and prepare for teaching and research activities:
Your tasks
- Work on a relevant dissertation in the chosen field of expertise
- Further development of the ability to carry out independent, scientific research activities
- Publication of research results in international, peer-reviewed journals
- Publication and presentation of research results
- Collaboration in organisational and administrative tasks
- Participation in national and international conferences as far as possible
- Supervision of students
- Participation in the assessment of students, including supervision of academic theses
- Participation in teaching
Your profile
We require evidence of the following qualifications for the application:
- University Master’s degree/Diploma in one of the four possible PhD programmes at the university, which entitles the candidate to be admitted to this PhD programme at the UWK
- Knowledge of the state-of-art research and professional judgement in the dissertation field
- Competence to recognise intersections with related fields of research and to establish links to them
- Expertise in presenting your own research findings in academic discourse and in communication with experts
- Ability to reflect on the ethical and social implications and consequences of your own research
- Excellent written and spoken English (at least C1)
In addition, the following criteria are desirable:
- German language skills

- Part-time position (30 hours/week) initially limited to four years with the option to extend by one year, with a minimum salary of EUR 3,578.80 gross per month on a full-time basis, classification as a scientific project staff member according to § 49 VwGr. B1, Kollektivvertrag für Universitäten (collective agreement of universities)
