The University of Melbourne French Trust Fund supports research higher degree students and post-doctoral research alumni whose research projects require travel for French Studies associated with France and other French-speaking countries.

Eligibility & selection criteria
EligibilityTo be eligible for this scholarship, you must:
- be a graduate research student; or,
- be a post-doctoral research alumni (whom has completed a doctorate within the past 3 years) at the University of Melbourne; and,
- have a research project that requires travel for French Studies associated with France and/or other French-speaking countries.
Selection criteriaThe scholarship will be offered to a student who demonstrates:
- the relevance of the overseas placement to their intended research;
- the quality and feasibility of the proposed program of study in France and/or another French-speaking country;
- academic merit; and,
- the skills, experience and aptitude required to carry out the proposed project as evidenced by the application.

Application process
Eligible applicant must complete an online application including:
- details of your proposed travel program;
- a 300-500 word statement describing how you would use this scholarship, how it would positively impact your academic work and outlining how travel is relevant to your research;
- an indicative budget;
- at least one academic reference;
- a current statement of results;
- evidence of initial contact or approval of residency at a French institution if applicable; and,
- any other information which may assist the committee in making its decision.

Applicants will be advised of the outcome via email.
What are the benefits?
Up to $15,000. Several scholarships will be offered from this total amount.
Recipients are required to:
- accept award online within 21 days;
- submit the relevant travel documents; and,
- submit a final report on the work carried out with the assistance of the grant
