University of Adelaide Research Scholarship – Statistical Shape and appearance models of human joints – Adelaide Medical School

This scholarship is funded by the University of Adelaide to support a full-time Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) student who is commencing research in the field of musculoskeletal biomechanics.  

This exciting project is supported by a recently announced ARC Future Fellowship to develop statistical shape and appearance models of human joints from state-of-the-art MRI sequences. The project will tap into a rich collaborative network of bioengineers, medical imaging specialists, histologist, and surgeons to acquire a large image and tissue bank which will be used as the basis for our models. The successful candidate will join the vibrant research team in the Centre for Orthopaedic and Trauma Research at the University of Adelaide. Candidates should have experience with numerical methods and programming in Python/Matlab.

Eligibility:

We welcome applications domestic applicants (Australian citizens or permanent residents) or overseas candidates from who are acceptable as candidates for a PhD degree at the University of Adelaide. Refer to How to Apply  on the Adelaide Graduate Research School website for PhD eligibility details.

Stipend:

The scholarship will be for up to 3.5 years and has a stipend of $32,500 per annum (2023 rate, indexed annually). It is likely to be tax exempt, subject to Taxation Office approval.  Details of any terms and/or benefits can be found in the University of Adelaide Conditions of Award .
