The Fiona Lavelle and Tinesh Tamilkodi Memorial Scholarships

The Fiona Lavelle and Tinesh Tamilkodi Memorial Scholarships, generously supported by St John Ambulance Australia will be offered for the first time in 2024. Two scholarships valued at $20,000 each will be open to applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students undertaking an eligible health sciences degree. The Scholarships will be paid to successful students as $5,000 per Semester for up to 2 years. The scholarship reflects Fiona’s passion for lifelong learning and supporting the next generation of St John WA team members and as a living testament to the spirit and unwavering commitment demonstrated by Tinesh throughout his service to humanity as a member of the St John WA team.

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

• be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent;
• be enrolled full-time in an eligible course;
• have and maintain a course progression status of GREEN;
• not be in receipt of another scholarship valued over $5000.

Application is made via the ECU Online Scholarship Application Portal. Access to the Portal is available between application opening and closing dates.

Applicants will be required to provide a personal statement of no more than 500 words addressing the following;

- Demonstrate your drive and commitment to establishing a career in your chosen area of study.

- Describe your cultural connection to country and community.

- How will the Scholarship assist you in addressing difficulties such as barriers to education, financial hardship or other personal difficulty?

Eligible applications will be assessed by a Selection Committee.
