Project:
The PhD project is within the broad scope of ‚Modelling for Metal Additive Manufacturing‘. There is potential to explore a range of different topics suited to the student’s interest and skillset. This may include but is not limited to
- processing-microstructure-property relationships in metal additive manufacturing (MAM)
- microstructure evolution under MAM conditions
- residual stresses under MAM conditions
- mechanical behaviour of additively manufactured materials under different types of mechanical loading (quasistatic, dynamic, fatigue)
- thermal modelling of MAM
- additive manufacturing process optimisation
The potential PhD candidate must have experience with simulations and programming. The topics mentioned above include model development and optimisation. The topics mentioned above include model development and optimisation.
