PhD scholarship in MOFs, membranes, and photonic sensors

This research will provide significant benefits to environmental protection, sustainable development, food safety, and human health. 

This scholarship is funded by the STEM College of RMIT University. The candidate will be hosted by the Chemical and Environmental Engineering discipline and undertake research with Senior Research Fellow & ARC DECRA Fellow Dr. Jue Hou. This research includes the investigation into inorganic-inorganic porous framework materials (MOFs), growth and self-assembly of nanoparticles, MOF-based membranes for separation applications, and MOF-based photonic crystal sensors.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Meet RMIT’s entry requirements for the Doctor of Philosophy, including minimum English language requirements for international applicants, as outlined under 'Admissions' in PhD (Chemical Engineering) 
  • Have a background in chemical engineering, chemistry, or materials. They must have completed a relevant Bachelor's Degree and Honour's or Master's.

Desired: 

  • Excellent written and communication skills. 
  • Experience in synthesis of organic/inorganic materials, and self-assembly of nanoparticles.
  • Experience in characterizations, e.g., SEM, FTIR, XRD, BET, spectra analysis.
