These models are technology platforms that facilitate drug discovery and fundamental research. Our research is funded by Australian Research Council.
This project aims to develop bio-microfluidic systems for studying the response of mechano-sensitive cells inside blood vessel under customised physiological and pathological conditions. The microfluidic system consists of a network of semi-circular channels coated with layers of endothelial cells to mimic vascular systems. The soft structure of the system allows for stretching of endothelial cells in repeated cycles. The cellular responses under the different external stimuli will be monitored and evaluated in real-time using inverted microscopes.
The project will be conducted in collaboration with biomedical and microfluidic experts at RMIT’s School of Engineering.
