This PhD is part of an ARC Discovery Grant on creating evidence-based public open space standards for apartment residents (The ‘High Life’ Study). The candidate will work with investigators in Melbourne and Perth to develop a project on the interplay between apartment design, green space and health/wellbeing.

Eligibility

Applicants must:
  • Satisfy RMIT University’s Doctor of Philosophy entry requirements
  • Have first-class Honours or equivalent in a relevant discipline
  • International applicants must also meet the minimum English language requirements.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate:

  • First-class Honours or equivalent in at least one of the following disciplines: urban design, landscape architecture, geography, population health, environmental science or a related discipline
  • Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems and statistical software packages
  • High-level research skills
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Demonstrated capacity to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience in quantitative research or demonstrated capacity for quantitative research.

Desired:

  • Experience developing/undertaking surveys or participatory planning.
