About the Scholarship

The aim of this SmartCrete CRC project is to develop the first Australian technical guidance for fastening solutions in innovative concrete. This project is in collaboration with five industry partners from the Australian Engineered Fasteners and Anchor Council (AEFAC) www.aefac.org.au. This project will include extensive experimental work and finite element (FE) analyses.
In this project, the higher degree research (HDR) candidate will work closely with the Swinburne supervisors and there will be numerous opportunities for the HDR candidate to be engaged with industry partners.

This is a full-time 3-year scholarship and upon satisfying the general entry requirements into a PhD program at Swinburne University of Technology, the successful applicant will be invited to submit an application for this rewarding career opportunity. The scholarship offered will be compatible with the standard PhD scholarships in Australian universities up to $30k per annum (no Tax on PhD stipend), with the additional as follows:

  • A potential 6-month scholarship extension
  • Provisions for paid leave
  • A thesis allowance
  • Tuition fee waiver of up to a maximum of four years full time equivalent for doctoral students.

About you
To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • A Bachelor (1st or 2nd class Honours) or Master degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a similar discipline,
  • Be enthusiastic, and self-motivated with a demonstrable aptitude for research and development, and
  • Be a team player who has good interpersonal skills, communication skills, and can collaborate well with others.
