This scholarship has been established to support provide financial assistance to a full-time Indigenous student studying the Bachelor of Nursing (Preregistration) at Flinders university.

Source of funds

The source of funds is the Mediserve Nursing Agency.


Each scholarship will have a value of $3,000 for one year paid in equal instalments after the census date of each semester. One scholarship will be available per annum.  


Scholarship applicants must:

  • be of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent; and
  • identify as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander; and
  • be accepted as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander by the community in which they live or have lived; and
  • be enrolling in the second or third year of the Bachelor of Nursing (Preregistration) and
  • be able to demonstrate financial need; and
  • be making satisfactory academic progress; and
  • normally be enrolled full-time at Flinders University.

Applications will be accepted from part-time students who have extenuating circumstances that prevent them from studying full-time (e.g. disabilities, carer responsibilities). Part-time recipients will be paid pro-rata. 


Applications should be submitted online through the Student System by the specified closing date.


The tenure is one year. The scholarship will be paid in equal instalments after the census date of each semester. These payments are subject to the student maintaining a full-time study load and satisfactory academic progress.

Payments will not normally be made for repeat study. Scholarship payments will be withdrawn if the scholarship holder withdraws or is precluded from the course.


Leave will be permitted after completion of at least semester of this scholarship, for a maximum of one semester only.


The Scholarship will be awarded based on:

  • academic merit; and
  • demonstrated interest in a career in nursing.

Students may receive this scholarship more than once, however students who have not previously received the scholarship may be given preference in the selection process.


The scholarship will be advertised on the University website and other appropriate media as determined by Flinders University.
