Job Description

This is a full time, continuing position at a HEP 8, $102,256 - $115,153 classification, plus 17% superannuation working 36.75 hours (1 FTE) per week.

About the role

The overall purpose of the Manager, Scholarships is to lead and manage the Graduate Research Scholarships Team which administers the graduate research scholarships schemes.  They will provide recommendations where required and execute an agreed course of action with consideration to stakeholder management.

The Manager, Scholarships ensures that processes, policies and administration relating to the graduate researcher scholarships are efficient, effective and directed toward achieving the University's strategic objectives.

About the person
​​The successful incumbent will demonstrate significant initiative, judgement, decision-making and problem-solving skills to deliver customer focus solutions and outcomes. They will also have significant expertise in graduate research scholarship management including programs, projects and services to build and enhance user experience of applicants, graduate researchers, academic supervisors and other internal and external stakeholder groups. 

The incumbent will also be required to plan, develop, implement and review programs/projects involving major change which may impact on other areas of the institutions operations, and have knowledge and expertise in relevant systems, processes and procedures related to graduate research scholarship management.  

Duties

An example of duties you may perform will include:

  • Develop and manage a high performing team, supporting domestic and international applicants/graduate researchers and their supervisors.
  • Develop scholarship application and administration processes and systems in collaboration with Graduate Research School team members and researchers. 
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure the delivery of best practice support provided by the Graduate Research Scholarships Team. 
  • In conjunction with the Dean of Graduate Studies, develop and manage annual budgets for scholarships and additional schemes.
  • Ensure data relating to budgets, scholarship applications, offers, contractual arrangements, allocations, payments and acquittals are up to date.
  • Provide both strategic and operational consultancy and advice to the Dean Graduate Research and other senior leaders.
  • Review and maintain a high standard of quality and integrity in graduate research scholarship management and administration
  • Monitor the quality of services provided to applicants/graduate researchers, their supervisors and other academics, related to Graduate Research Scholarships
  • Review and action appropriate strategies for compliance, currency, national/international benchmarks for quality and integrity in graduate research scholarship management and administration. 
  • Review, manage and resolve complaints associated with scholarship schemes in association with the Dean of Graduate Studies.
  • Prepare and present reports and briefing papers for a range of internal/external groups and stakeholders, providing recommendations on issues, and facilitate the implementation of approved actions.
