Graduate Research School

  • The role will be responsible for planning and developing effective Admissions and Scholarship operations to ensure that the Graduate Research School’s strategic directions are achieved.
  • Full-time appointment on an ongoing basis
  • Base salary range: Level 8 $ 103,364 – $ 112,981 p.a. plus 17% superannuation

About the team

The Graduate Research School (GRS) sits within the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research) portfolio. The GRS provides strategic and academic leadership and management to enhance graduate research training at the University. The GRS manages Admissions, Candidature, Examinations and Scholarship allocations for HDR students and applicants, as well as providing skills and professional development to both students and supervisors.

About the opportunity

As the appointee, you will, under broad direction, be responsible for developing and maintaining effective and quality Admissions and Scholarship processes that uphold the academic integrity of UWA. You will be responsible for providing high-level advice and communications on Admission and Scholarship processes to the University community. You will be committed to continual process improvement and will have a strong focus on change management and stakeholder engagement.

About you 

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate :

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent competency
  • Extensive relevant administrative and customer service experience in a large and complex tertiary organisation, working closely with postgraduate research students
  • A commitment to high quality student experience and engagement and an in-depth understanding of associated issues, with the proven ability to contribute to the development of associated strategy
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously to develop and implement operational plans and budgets and the ability to achieve objectives and report on outcomes.
  • High level interpersonal verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to interact effectively with a wide client base, to handle sensitive issues and difficult conversations with confidence, tact and discretion, and to successfully negotiate solutions and influence outcomes
  • High level written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to interpret and communicate complex policies, and to draft and write reports and correspondence
  • Proficiency in a range of computing skills including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, internet and email
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams and provide career progression, succession and development
