The International Aviation Womens Association (IAWA) is a non-profit association with members in 38 countries, representing 257 major companies and aviation authorities. IAWA is dedicated to promoting the advancement of women in the aviation and aerospace industries.

Eligibility / selection criteria
To be eligible for the International Aviation Womens Association Scholarship, applicants must:
- identify as female
- Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen, Australian permanent resident or Australian permanent resident with Humanitarian Visa, or International student
- be a commencing or continuing Swinburne student in Semester 1, 2024
- enrolled full-time in an eligible course (see courses eligible in section above)
- Why IAWA's mission and the organisations's commitment to Connect, Inspire and Lead throughout your career are important to you.
- Explain your leadership experiences and share what you have learned through your leadership experiences (e.g through your clubs, work, volunteering).
- Tell us what you expect to gain from being an IAWA scholarship recipient beyond the financial support (you can hear from past recipients in this video and in this podcast for some ideas).
- Academic reference - from a person qualified to comment on academic studies, e.g. lecturer, subject coordinator, school principal, etc., or
- Character reference - from a person competent to supply a character reference such as a current or past employer, not a family member
- Applicants should demonstrate leadership qualities such as volunteering, sporting association, part-time work etc
Please note: short listed applicants will be required to attend an interview with Swinburne representatives prior to progressing their application.
Value
The scholarship is valued at US$5,000 and a free scholar membership for one year only.
In addition to the scholarship funds received, the successful recipient will also have the opportunity to attend the annual IAWA conference, fully funded by the IAWA. Find out more about the annual IAWA conference .
