The Adelaide Graduate Research School (AGRS) and Hubble are partnering to create 2 remote internship opportunities for University of Adelaide PhD students, to contribute to various projects. 

Hubble is pioneering the development of a SaaS platform based at LotFourteen that leverages AI to help homeowners find the best balance in design and material selection for building resilient homes. The organisation is currently working on research project(s) related to the release of a new digital product that conducts optimisation of AI algorithms for sustainable home retrofitting solutions. Opportunity to undertake research in the field(s) of Product Development and Artificial Intelligence, Sustainable Building Practices, and Data Analysis. 

The nature of the research and development activities for the research internship may include:

  • Drawing on research literature and relevant theoretical frameworks to enhance the AI-driven recommendations of our platform.
  • Undertaking fieldwork to gather qualitative and quantitative data on homeowner retrofit needs and preferences.
  • Undertaking research trials to test and refine the AI algorithms used in our platform.
  • Meaningful assistance in research and policy development with a focus on sustainable retrofitting practices and regulations.
  • Writing or preparing an investigative report to support the organisation in developing practical, scalable retrofit solutions.
  • Using large datasets to research homeowner behaviour, retrofit impact, and solution provider efficiency.

Eligibility:  The PhD student must be:  

  • within the first 18 months of their candidature,  
  • willing to undertake the research internship for a minimum duration of 60 FTE business days,  
  • making satisfactory progress, and  
  • undertaking research in an area aligned with the proposed research internship project.

Please note that applications will be considered on a rolling basis and the advertisement may be closed earlier if a suitable applicant is shortlisted for a particular project prior to the listed closing date. Furthermore, if shortlisted, a meeting is likely to be organised between the student, their supervisor and the organisation's focal contact person within a week of shortlisting. Students may consider discussing their internship plans with their Principal Supervisor in anticipation of that.
